The holidays mean big dinners and delicious food. During these festive occasions, wine is often present to complement the flavors and help the guests relax a bit. Unsurprisingly during these celebrations there may be a wine spill that stains your carpet! If this has happened to you, Capital Cleanpro in Central Ohio will tell you how to clean this unfestive stain off your floor.

How to Get Wine Off Your Carpet

  1. The first thing you need to do is act fast to avoid the stain from grabbing on to your carpeting.
  2. Next, blot the excess wine from the carpet with a clean towel. Work your way from the outer edges inwards and don’t scrub the stain or you could actually spread it further.
  3. Then, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the stain and let it sit there so it can absorb the wine. Vacuum it off after around 15 minutes.
  4. Mix warm water with soap and vinegar. Dab the area with a clean cloth to lift the stain off. If it’s not coming off, leave the cloth over the stain for a while. Repeat this process until it’s completely gone.
  5. Once you’re done and the wine stain is off, let the carpet dry to prevent mold from growing on it. Open up windows and turn on any fans to move this process along.
