Carpeting provides comfort, warmth and a sense of style to your home, but it can’t last forever. Perhaps you’ve noticed some of the signs that your carpet needs professional cleaning and feel that the time to replace your carpet is approaching. The amount of options available can be overwhelming, so let Capital Cleanpro talk you through some of the options available to you.

It’s crucial that you keep your specific requirements in mind throughout the process of choosing a carpet. Identify what you need and make sure your choice fulfils your criteria. If you have children or pets, for instance, you’ll need a stain-resistant carpet. If you’re recarpeting a very high-traffic area, you’ll need to opt for a durable material, and so on.

There are various materials available, and they all have their unique strengths and weaknesses.Nylon is a very common choice, as it’s fairly hard-wearing and inexpensive. It is a synthetic fiber, however, and as such doesn’t have the environmental credentials of some of the other materials. Polypropylene, on the other hand, is very often made from up to 85% recycled materials, so is a fairly green choice, plus it’s even more hard-wearing than nylon. The drawback? It isn’t as soft and is prone to flattening over time if in a high-traffic area. One natural, eco-friendly option you could go for is sheep’s wool, the most luxurious and by far the most comfortable material available. It is, however, markedly more expensive than synthetic fabrics. If you opt for wool, make sure to check that it hasn’t been treated with harsh chemicals during manufacture, as that detracts from its environmental-friendliness and can affect the indoor air quality in your home.

Types of pile

The various materials all also come in various forms, known as piles, which also have their own pros and cons.Uncut carpet pile is durable and stain-resistant, making it a good choice for family homes or for pet owners. It isn’t as comfortable or soft as the less durable cut carpet pile, though. Frieze cut pile will be familiar as it’s used in many offices and institutional settings. It’s great for high-traffic areas as it doesn’t show footprints and won’t flatten out or get crushed over time. It’s highly durable but is not as comfortable or aesthetically pleasing as the other piles. Plush carpet pile is the luxurious choice. It’s the softest and most decadent feeling of the options available, but this comes at the cost of durability. Plush pile will wear much faster than other options, so should only be used in low-traffic areas.

All the above carpeting options comes in a vast range of colors and patterns, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one that fits with your home’s decor. Generally, it’s a good idea to opt for a neutral color if the room you’re carpeting already has strong colors or patterns on the walls. You can however create a luxurious, comfortable atmosphere in your master bedroom by picking carpeting in a deep, warm shade such as a dark red.

Once you’ve invested in new carpeting, you’ll want to make sure it lasts. One of the best ways to do this is to have it deep-cleaned by a professional at least once a year. When the time comes around, you can count on Capital Cleanpro for the best carpet cleaning in Central Ohio. Call 614-531-3398 to find out more.
